Description
Preside over administrative hearings and issue impartial decisions on disputes involving government programs and regulations. Determine eligibility, liability, and sanctions; rule on motions and evidence; and order or recommend acceptance or rejection of claims or settlements.
  • • Prepare written decisions with findings of fact, conclusions of law, and orders.
  • • Review case files, applications, and supporting records, including medical and employment documents.
  • • Research and apply statutes, regulations, policies, and precedent to resolve cases.
  • • Hold prehearing conferences to clarify issues, address discovery, and obtain stipulations.
  • • Recommend or approve settlements and compromise resolutions consistent with law and policy.
  • • Inform parties of appeal rights, procedures, and deadlines.
  • • Conduct and control hearings to ensure fairness, decorum, and due process.
  • • Order or recommend payment of valid claims and assess remedies or sanctions as authorized.
  • • Hear and decide claims involving program eligibility, licensing, enforcement, or regulatory compliance.
  • • Rule on motions, objections, and admissibility of evidence.
  • • Determine eligibility, liability, and appropriate sanctions based on the record and applicable law.
  • • Issue subpoenas, administer oaths, and manage witness testimony.
  • • Review and recommend improvements to agency hearing and appeals procedures for legal compliance and efficiency.
  • • Manage docketing, scheduling, and case flow.
