Description
Perform nonspeaking roles to create realistic atmosphere in film, television, and other productions. Follow blocking, timing, and continuity, using natural movement and reactions to support principal action; adhere to set etiquette, wardrobe requirements, and safety guidelines.
- • Follow directors’ and assistant directors’ instructions for blocking, timing, and background business.
- • Study scene context to portray appropriate behavior and reactions without drawing focus.
- • Hit marks and repeat movements consistently across multiple takes for continuity.
- • Pantomime conversations and actions silently, reacting naturally to cues.
- • Maintain continuity of wardrobe, hair, makeup, and props between takes.
- • Bring requested wardrobe options and wear assigned costumes properly.
- • Coordinate with other background performers to match timing and placement.
- • Work with costume, hair/makeup, camera, and props teams during setups and resets.
- • Check in, complete vouchers/timecards, and follow union or production policies.
- • Arrive on time, hold positions, and observe quiet-on-set and other etiquette rules.
- • Avoid looking at the camera and follow eyeline and movement directions.
- • Reset quickly to first positions between takes and setups.
- • Perform simple physical actions safely, such as walking, sitting, eating, driving, or carrying items.
- • Attend background casting calls and submit availability and photos as requested.
- • Work long hours and irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, and varied weather conditions.
