Description
Study the origins, behavior, physiology, diseases, genetics, and life processes of animals in the wild and in captivity. Design and conduct field and laboratory research, collect and analyze biological data, and evaluate how environmental factors and human activities affect animal populations, health, and conservation.
  • • Study animals in natural and controlled settings and assess environmental and human impacts on behavior, health, and distribution.
  • • Survey and estimate animal populations and demographics.
  • • Identify and classify species using morphological, genetic, and behavioral data.
  • • Design, conduct, and document laboratory and field experiments with live animals.
  • • Collect, preserve, and dissect specimens and prepare slides and voucher materials.
  • • Analyze biological data with statistical and computational tools and model populations.
  • • Investigate animal origins, evolution, life histories, diseases, development, genetics, and ecology.
  • • Publish research and technical reports and present findings to scientific and public audiences.
  • • Collaborate on disease surveillance and prevention programs in captive or wild populations.
  • • Ensure compliance with animal care, biosafety, and research permit requirements and maintain accurate records.
  • • Advise agencies, zoos, and conservation groups on species management, captive breeding, and welfare.
  • • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize current research.
  • • Manage project logistics, budgets, grant proposals, and supervision of students or technicians.
  • • Engage in outreach and respond to inquiries on animal biology and conservation.
