Description
Conduct field and laboratory research on wild animal populations to understand their behavior, health, genetics, and ecology; monitor habitats; analyze biological and environmental data to evaluate land and water use impacts; and develop science-based conservation and management recommendations.
- • Study wildlife in natural habitats, assess environmental and human impacts, and recommend mitigation or alternative practices.
- • Survey and estimate wildlife and plant populations using standardized methods.
- • Identify and classify species based on morphological or genetic characteristics.
- • Analyze life histories, behavior, disease dynamics, genetics, distribution, and habitat requirements of wildlife.
- • Design and conduct field studies and experiments in natural or controlled settings.
- • Collect biological samples and prepare specimens or slides for identification and disease or developmental studies.
- • Use statistical analyses, GIS, and modeling to interpret data and forecast population and habitat trends.
- • Develop or advise on wildlife population and habitat management plans in consultation with stakeholders.
- • Coordinate and support surveillance and preventive programs for wildlife diseases.
- • Ensure compliance with wildlife and environmental regulations; document and report violations to authorities.
- • Communicate findings through technical reports, journal articles, and presentations to agencies, communities, and interest groups.
- • Engage the public on wildlife and conservation issues, including species identification, regulations, and human–wildlife conflict.
- • Conduct literature reviews to inform study design and management recommendations.
- • Manage project logistics, budgets, permits, and data records for field research.
