Description
Inspect horse hooves and horseshoes at equine events to ensure safety and regulatory compliance; detect violations and enforce corrective actions or penalties.
- • Inspect horse hooves, shoes, pads, and traction devices for compliance with rules and welfare standards.
- • Assess trimming and shoeing for safety, soundness, and prohibited practices or substances.
- • Notify trainers or riders of violations and order corrections or withdrawal as required.
- • Measure and record shoe weight, dimensions, toe grabs, and materials per class rules.
- • Verify horse identity, entries, and class eligibility related to shoeing requirements.
- • Maintain inspection logs, tags, and clearance status for each horse.
- • Coordinate pre-race or pre-class hoof checks and clear horses to the paddock or start.
- • Resolve complaints or protests about shoeing or hoof condition and assign penalties.
