Description
Execute and manage securities trades for the firm or clients, analyze markets and liquidity, provide pricing and market color, manage positions and risk, and ensure best execution and regulatory compliance across asset classes.
  • • Make bids and offers across assigned securities and markets.
  • • Monitor real-time markets, order books, and positions.
  • • Execute client and proprietary orders to achieve best execution.
  • • Keep accurate records and maintain the trading blotter.
  • • Trade equities, fixed income, FX, futures, and options as permitted.
  • • Enter, confirm, and route orders through OMS/EMS and exchanges.
  • • Report positions, P&L, and trading results to management.
  • • Clarify client order instructions, objectives, and constraints.
  • • Provide market color, quotes, and trade updates to clients.
  • • Align execution strategies with client needs and liquidity.
  • • Identify liquidity sources and trading opportunities.
  • • Develop trade ideas and hedging strategies based on analysis.
  • • Review trades for accuracy and regulatory conformance.
  • • Track and analyze macro, sector, and microstructure drivers of price.
  • • Inform traders, sales, and clients of market conditions and flows.
  • • Offer trade recommendations within mandate and conflicts policies.
  • • Evaluate trade profitability, costs, and slippage.
  • • Verify commissions, fees, and transaction costs.
  • • Prepare daily P&L, exposure, and risk limit reports.
  • • Provide real-time quotes and relevant issuer or market updates.
  • • Coordinate with operations and compliance to ensure timely settlement.
  • • Route and relay orders to exchanges, ATSs, and internal desks.
  • • Negotiate prices and terms with brokers and counterparties.
  • • Send and respond to RFQs on electronic platforms and voice channels.
  • • Price securities and structured trades based on market conditions.
  • • Purchase or sell derivatives for hedging or client execution.
  • • Manage inventory and exposures within risk and capital limits.
  • • Adhere to best execution, trade surveillance, and recordkeeping rules.
  • • Maintain relationships with brokers, dealers, and liquidity providers.
  • • Troubleshoot trade breaks and resolve discrepancies with back office.
  • • Use algorithms, smart order routing, and crossing networks appropriately.
