Description
Plan, manage, and perform residential and commercial roofing projects, installing and repairing roof systems using shingles, slate, asphalt, metal, wood, or related materials. Coordinate crews, permits, and procurement; apply coatings and waterproofing to bind, seal, insulate, or soundproof building envelopes while ensuring safety and code compliance.
  • • Inspect roofs and diagnose leaks, damage, and system failures.
  • • Develop repair or replacement plans based on findings and codes.
  • • Prepare estimates, bids, and contracts for roofing work.
  • • Obtain permits and schedule required inspections.
  • • Plan project schedules, crew assignments, and site logistics.
  • • Procure materials and equipment; coordinate deliveries, cranes, lifts, and dumpsters.
  • • Set up and inspect scaffolding, ladders, and fall protection.
  • • Enforce OSHA, manufacturer, and building code compliance.
  • • Supervise crews and subcontractors; provide training and oversight.
  • • Install, repair, or replace shingles, slate, metal, wood, or asphalt roofing.
  • • Install or replace single-ply, built-up, and modified bitumen systems per specifications.
  • • Install flashing and counterflashing to seal roof joints and penetrations.
  • • Cut and fit shingles, felt, and flashing around angles, vents, and walls.
  • • Install vapor barriers and roof insulation on flat or sloped roofs.
  • • Attach underlayment and lay overlapping courses using chalk lines or gauges.
  • • Seal exposed fasteners and penetrations with roofing cement or sealant.
  • • Remove snow, water, or debris from roofs before application.
  • • Apply hot asphalt or tar with roofing paper in alternate layers.
  • • Prepare substrates by smoothing rough spots and repairing decks.
  • • Apply membranes, coatings, fiberglass, felt, or glaze; embed gravel as required.
  • • Spray coatings to bind, seal, insulate, or soundproof building envelopes.
  • • Waterproof roofs, walls, or foundations with coatings or membranes.
  • • Install reflective roof coatings to reduce solar heat absorption.
  • • Install attic ventilation systems, ridge or gable vents, and exhaust fans.
  • • Install skylights per plans and manufacturer flashing requirements.
  • • Install vegetation-based green roofs, including membranes, drainage, and plants.
  • • Coordinate solar panel attachments to protect roofing and structural integrity.
  • • Track materials, labor, costs, and change orders; manage warranties.
  • • Maintain project documentation, photos, inspections, and as-built records.
  • • Communicate project status with clients, insurers, GCs, and inspectors; ensure temporary weatherproofing and site protection.
