Description
Conduct research and apply remote sensing principles to analyze geospatial data and solve problems in natural resources, urban planning, climate, and security. Develop and validate analytical techniques, models, and applications, and contribute to the design and assessment of sensor systems.
  • • Analyze satellite, aerial, and ground-based data using statistical, image analysis, and GIS software.
  • • Design and maintain remote sensing and geospatial databases.
  • • Integrate ancillary geospatial datasets into analyses.
  • • Prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations.
  • • Organize data, metadata, and documentation for reproducibility.
  • • Process imagery to produce land cover, change detection, and index products.
  • • Design strategies for geospatial data collection, analysis, and visualization.
  • • Lead implementation and enhancement of remote sensing analysis workflows and tools.
  • • Collect and use field and climatic data for calibration and validation.
  • • Preprocess, compile, and format imagery for analysis.
  • • Conduct research to advance remote sensing methods and applications.
  • • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on goals, methods, and resourcing.
  • • Develop algorithms to correct artifacts and confounding effects.
  • • Develop and validate new analytical techniques and contribute to sensor development.
  • • Manage and analyze large remote sensing datasets to derive insights.
  • • Monitor data quality and recommend procedural improvements.
  • • Plan and execute testing and validation of new sensors, platforms, or software.
  • • Stay current with remote sensing literature, tools, and standards.
  • • Participate in field campaigns for data collection and validation.
  • • Evaluate and recommend remote sensing tools, platforms, and data sources.
  • • Design and oversee data acquisition and processing pipelines.
  • • Mentor team members in remote sensing methods and best practices.
  • • Apply remote sensing to environmental monitoring and modeling.
  • • Use remote sensing for forest, carbon, and climate change assessments.
