Description
Design, build, and integrate remote sensing sensors, platforms, and data processing systems to produce actionable insights for natural resources, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and security. Develop algorithms and scalable workflows, optimize accuracy and reliability, and deploy hardware and software solutions from prototype to production.
  • • Design and implement algorithms to analyze airborne, satellite, and ground sensor data using image processing, statistical, and GIS tools.
  • • Design and build geospatial databases and data models for remote sensing projects.
  • • Integrate ancillary geospatial datasets into remote sensing workflows and products.
  • • Document system architectures and analysis results; deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • • Establish data management, versioning, and metadata standards for remote sensing assets.
  • • Develop automated pipelines to process imagery into products (e.g., land cover, change detection).
  • • Architect collection, processing, and visualization strategies for geospatial data.
  • • Lead implementation and optimization of remote sensing hardware, firmware, and software.
  • • Specify and integrate supporting ground-truth and environmental datasets for validation.
  • • Engineer preprocessing, tiling, and formatting routines to standardize imagery.
  • • Prototype and evaluate new sensors, algorithms, and applications for remote sensing.
  • • Translate requirements into technical specifications and engineering plans.
  • • Develop automated correction and normalization for artifacts, atmospheric effects, and geometry.
  • • Design new analytical methods and sensor subsystems to improve performance and accuracy.
  • • Build scalable data pipelines to ingest, manage, and compute on remote sensing data.
  • • Establish QA/QC metrics; monitor data collection and trigger calibration or procedural updates.
  • • Plan and execute installation, integration, and acceptance testing of sensors and software.
  • • Stay current with remote sensing standards, tools, and best practices; evaluate emerging technologies.
  • • Conduct or support field deployments, calibration, and ground-truth campaigns.
  • • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and cloud services for mission needs.
  • • Configure, calibrate, and maintain sensor payloads and data acquisition systems.
  • • Train engineers and technicians on system operation, safety, and workflows.
  • • Engineer solutions using remote sensing (e.g., flood mapping, emissions detection) for environmental needs.
  • • Develop pipelines and models for forest monitoring and carbon accounting.
