Description
Lead the development, financing, and execution of stage, television, radio, video, or film productions. Manage budgets, schedules, contracts, and staffing; coordinate creative and technical teams; secure rights, resources, and distribution; and ensure projects meet quality, compliance, and delivery requirements.
- • Select and develop scripts, books, or ideas for production.
- • Obtain underlying rights and clearances for stories, music, and footage.
- • Arrange financing and manage relationships with investors, studios, or networks.
- • Build and manage production budgets and cost reports.
- • Create master schedules and production calendars.
- • Hire key cast and crew and approve vendor selections.
- • Negotiate contracts with talent, agents, unions, vendors, and distributors.
- • Work with writers to shape scripts, treatments, and revisions.
- • Approve casting choices and oversee auditions with the casting team.
- • Coordinate the work of directors, department heads, and staff across all phases.
- • Approve equipment, sets, props, wardrobe, and other production elements.
- • Choose or approve locations and secure permits and insurance.
- • Lead production meetings and communicate goals, updates, and changes.
- • Resolve personnel, logistical, and scheduling conflicts during production.
- • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and union requirements.
- • Oversee on-set operations and ensure resources are used efficiently.
- • Review dailies, cuts, and rehearsals to track progress and quality.
- • Supervise post-production, including editing, sound, VFX, and color.
- • Approve final cuts and ensure delivery to broadcaster or distributor specs.
- • Compile and maintain scripts, program notes, reports, and deliverables.
- • Oversee administrative tasks such as call sheets, releases, and facilities.
- • Research topics, audiences, and markets to inform creative and business decisions.
- • Develop marketing and publicity plans with sales and distribution partners.
- • Write proposals, pitch decks, and budgets to secure greenlights or contracts.
- • Negotiate and manage distribution, licensing, and broadcast agreements.
- • Monitor risk, implement contingencies, and safeguard assets and data.
