Description
Detect and deter shoplifting and internal theft in retail stores by conducting surveillance, investigating incidents, documenting evidence, and coordinating with management and law enforcement to protect assets and ensure policy compliance.
- • Write incident reports and case summaries documenting investigations.
- • Conduct floor and CCTV surveillance to detect shoplifting and internal theft.
- • Obtain and analyze information on suspects and incidents to resolve cases.
- • Apprehend and detain suspects safely per law and company policy; recover merchandise.
- • Testify at hearings or trials and present evidence when required.
- • Interview witnesses, victims, and employees to gather statements and evidence.
- • Observe and document activities using notes, photos, and video per policy.
- • Alert managers and security to suspects' locations and coordinate response.
- • Perform undercover operations by posing as shoppers or employees to assess compliance and detect theft.
- • Investigate employee fraud and embezzlement using basic accounting and POS review.
- • Identify and report fraudulent returns, refund abuse, and gift card or coupon fraud.
- • Confer with store management, security, and police to share information and receive instructions.
- • Count cash and audit drawers; review transactions, sales checks, and register tapes to locate shortages.
- • Review inventory variances and exception reports to determine causes of shrink.
