- • Revise written material to meet personal standards and satisfy needs of clients and editors.
- • Select subjects and appropriate nonfiction forms to convey ideas or document events.
- • Plan outlines, reporting schedules, and structure; organize material accordingly.
- • Prepare manuscripts in print and digital formats and submit to editors or publishers.
- • Follow procedures to secure copyrights and permissions for text, data, images, and excerpts.
- • Write nonfiction prose, such as articles, essays, books, profiles, reviews, and investigative or explanatory pieces.

- • Teach writing or journalism workshops and mentor emerging writers.
- • Pitch story ideas and develop proposals, treatments, or book proposals.
- • Collaborate with editors, designers, photographers, and other writers on projects.
- • Use editorial tools and CMS platforms to track drafts, revisions, and publication workflow.
