Description
Prepare, package, and distribute medications in a hospital under a pharmacist's supervision. Compound sterile and nonsterile products, manage unit-dose and ADC dispensing, maintain inventory and controlled substance records, and deliver medications to patient care areas while following aseptic, safety, and regulatory standards.
- • Receive and verify inpatient medication orders in the EHR for accuracy and completeness.
- • Enter orders and patient data into pharmacy systems and generate labels.
- • Prepare and label unit-dose medications for scheduled doses and PRNs.
- • Fill medication carts and cassette exchanges on scheduled cycles.
- • Restock, reconcile, and troubleshoot automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs).
- • Compound sterile IV admixtures using USP 797 aseptic technique.
- • Prepare hazardous drugs and chemotherapy per USP 800 and safety protocols.
- • Compound nonsterile preparations following formulas and SOPs.
- • Prepack, barcode, and unit-dose bulk medications.
- • Deliver medications, IVs, and supplies to nursing units, OR, and ED.
- • Operate and maintain pharmacy robotics and IV compounding devices.
- • Maintain proper storage conditions, including refrigerators and freezers.
- • Receive, stock, rotate, and remove expired or recalled medications.
- • Handle controlled substances, including vault counts, discrepancies, and documentation.
- • Replenish crash carts, code trays, and anesthesia kits, verifying lots and expirations.
- • Answer phones and triage requests from clinicians, referring clinical questions to a pharmacist.
- • Assist with medication histories or reconciliation as permitted by policy.
- • Post patient charges and resolve billing issues for medications and supplies.
- • Clean and maintain the cleanroom, hoods, and work areas per SOPs.
- • Document compounding, batch records, ADC restocks, and dispensing to meet regulatory standards.
