Description
Control mosquito populations by inspecting and treating breeding sites, applying larvicides and adulticides, and conducting surveillance to protect public health.
  • • Inspect neighborhoods, wetlands, and catch basins to locate standing water and mosquito breeding sites.
  • • Set, service, and retrieve mosquito traps; identify and count larvae and adult mosquitoes.
  • • Apply larvicides to catch basins, ditches, and containers using hand, backpack, or truck-mounted equipment.
  • • Conduct ULV adulticiding by truck or backpack according to route plans, label directions, and weather conditions.
  • • Mix, load, and measure pesticides; calculate application rates and treatment coverage.
  • • Record daily activities, GPS tracks, trap results, and chemical usage in logs or databases.
  • • Drive and operate vehicles equipped with ULV sprayers and power application equipment.
  • • Maintain, calibrate, and clean sprayers, traps, and other field equipment.
  • • Remove standing water, unclog drains, and clean catch basins to reduce breeding; place larvicide briquets as needed.
  • • Post treatment notices and notify residents or agencies before operations when required.
  • • Respond to service requests and complaints; recommend source reduction and prevention to the public.
  • • Review maps or use GIS/mobile apps to plan routes and document treated areas.
  • • Follow safety procedures; wear PPE and properly handle, store, and dispose of pesticides.
