Description
Conduct and record electroneurodiagnostic tests—EEG, evoked potentials, polysomnography, electronystagmography, and intraoperative monitoring—and may assist with nerve conduction studies; ensure patient safety, data quality, and equipment readiness.
  • • Prepare and attach electrodes and sensors using approved adhesives.
  • • Measure and mark electrode locations (e.g., 10–20 system) before application.
  • • Conduct or assist with EEG, PSG, EP, NCS, EMG, and intraoperative monitoring per protocols.
  • • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and arrange repair or service for neurodiagnostic equipment.
  • • Perform EEGs for brain death assessment and coma prognosis under physician direction.
  • • Record visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potentials to assess responses.
  • • Identify, annotate, and reduce artifacts (e.g., poor contact, movement) on recordings.
  • • Monitor patients during studies and surgeries using EEG/EP equipment and video.
  • • Configure montages, stimulation parameters, and recording settings for peripheral, spinal, subcortical, and cortical studies.
  • • Optimize signal quality by adjusting filters, sensitivity, and impedances.
  • • Obtain and document medical history and relevant information to tailor tests.
  • • Summarize technical findings and submit preliminary reports for physician review.
  • • Explain procedures, answer questions, and reassure patients and families.
  • • Train or precept technicians, students, residents, and other staff.
  • • Maintain documentation, data integrity, and secure transfer of recordings and reports.
  • • Participate in quality improvement, research projects, conferences, or technical meetings.
