Description
Conduct and record electroneurodiagnostic tests—EEG, evoked potentials, polysomnography, electronystagmography, and intraoperative monitoring—and may assist with nerve conduction studies; ensure patient safety, data quality, and equipment readiness.
- • Prepare and attach electrodes and sensors using approved adhesives.
- • Measure and mark electrode locations (e.g., 10–20 system) before application.
- • Conduct or assist with EEG, PSG, EP, NCS, EMG, and intraoperative monitoring per protocols.
- • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and arrange repair or service for neurodiagnostic equipment.
- • Perform EEGs for brain death assessment and coma prognosis under physician direction.
- • Record visual, auditory, and somatosensory evoked potentials to assess responses.
- • Identify, annotate, and reduce artifacts (e.g., poor contact, movement) on recordings.
- • Monitor patients during studies and surgeries using EEG/EP equipment and video.
- • Configure montages, stimulation parameters, and recording settings for peripheral, spinal, subcortical, and cortical studies.
- • Optimize signal quality by adjusting filters, sensitivity, and impedances.
- • Obtain and document medical history and relevant information to tailor tests.
- • Summarize technical findings and submit preliminary reports for physician review.
- • Explain procedures, answer questions, and reassure patients and families.
- • Train or precept technicians, students, residents, and other staff.
- • Maintain documentation, data integrity, and secure transfer of recordings and reports.
