Description
Provide in-home, individualized care for children with disabilities or developmental differences, supporting physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs. Collaborate with parents and clinicians to implement care plans, therapies, behavior supports, medication and feeding protocols, adaptive equipment use, and safe transportation and activities.
  • • Perform first aid and CPR; follow child-specific emergency and seizure or medical protocols.
  • • Implement individualized care plans and therapy carryover (OT, PT, SLP) as directed.
  • • Meet regularly with parents, therapists, and teachers to align goals and review progress.
  • • Prepare and serve meals per dietary restrictions, textures, allergies, or feeding plans.
  • • Administer and document medications, treatments, and health procedures as prescribed.
  • • Support communication using AAC, PECS, sign, or other adapted methods.
  • • Use visual schedules, timers, and social stories to create predictable routines.
  • • Provide sensory regulation activities and maintain a sensory-safe environment.
  • • Teach and reinforce ADLs, hygiene, toileting, and self-help skills at the child's level.
  • • Apply positive behavior supports and collect data to address challenging behaviors.
  • • Monitor health and behavior changes; record data and report concerns promptly.
  • • Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning; operate adaptive equipment safely.
  • • Adapt homework, play, and community outings for accessibility and inclusion.
  • • Instruct in safety awareness, elopement prevention, and hazard avoidance.
  • • Regulate rest periods and create calming routines for naps or downtime.
  • • Transport children safely, securing mobility devices and following care needs.
  • • Maintain cleanliness of child areas; sanitize medical, feeding, and adaptive equipment.
  • • Shop for supplies related to the child's care and therapies, as authorized.
  • • Keep detailed logs of schedules, therapies, behaviors, meals, and expenses.
