Description
Educate and care for children in private households, providing structured instruction, cultural enrichment, and guidance in manners while supporting parents in meeting children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs. Duties include lesson planning and tutoring, organizing educational and recreational activities and outings, coordinating schedules and transportation, monitoring health and safety, and collaborating on discipline and developmental goals.
  • • Perform first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required.
  • • Regulate children's rest periods and study schedules.
  • • Meet regularly with parents to review academic progress and development.
  • • Help prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for children.
  • • Instruct children in safe behavior at home, online, and during outings.
  • • Organize and lead age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, such as reading, arts, science projects, sports, walks, museums, and play dates.
  • • Observe children's behavior and health, take temperature, coordinate doctor visits, or administer medications as directed.
  • • Model etiquette, manners, and prosocial behaviors to build communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • Work with parents to develop and implement study habits and discipline programs.
  • • Help develop or monitor the family's academic and activity schedule.
  • • Tutor and supervise homework across core subjects; coordinate with teachers and schools.
  • • Assign appropriate responsibilities and praise targeted behaviors to foster self-control, confidence, and responsibility.
  • • Transport children to schools, lessons, cultural outings, and medical appointments.
  • • Maintain an orderly learning environment and perform child-related tidying and organization.
  • • Instruct and assist children in healthy habits and age-appropriate self-care.
  • • Keep records of lesson plans, progress reports, schedules, and related expenses.
  • • Design and deliver lessons and enrichment to promote literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
  • • Remove hazards, set appropriate boundaries, and create a safe environment for children.
  • • Shop for educational materials, clothing, and other items needed for children's care.
