Description
Process and record electricity, gas, water, or steam meter readings, verify anomalies, coordinate routes and service orders, and assist customers.
- • Enter meter readings from route books, handheld uploads, or AMI systems into billing software.
- • Receive and upload handheld device data; reconcile batches and resolve transmission errors.
- • Review readings for abnormalities; initiate re-reads and document reasons for fluctuations.
- • Update customer addresses, meter identifiers, and location notes.
- • Prepare and assign daily meter reading routes; distribute route books or device loads.
- • Create and track service orders for connect/disconnects and access issues.
- • Report and log suspected tampering, damaged meters, or broken seals to service departments.
- • Answer customer questions on services and charges or refer to customer service.
- • Contact customers to schedule access when meters are not accessible; leave notices as needed.
- • Compile and submit daily meter reading, exception, and billing readiness reports.
- • Control and inventory keys and equipment issued to meter readers; report losses.
- • Open maintenance tickets for defective meters and coordinate follow-up.
