Description
Read utility meters and record customer consumption for electricity, gas, water, or steam with accurate data entry and basic meter inspection.
  • • Leave notices to schedule access when meters are not reachable.
  • • Connect or disconnect utility services as assigned.
  • • Report lost or broken keys and other access tools.
  • • Read electric, gas, water, or steam meters and enter data into handheld devices or route books.
  • • Travel assigned routes on foot or by vehicle to obtain meter readings.
  • • Upload collected data to office systems or return route materials for processing.
  • • Verify unusual readings and document possible causes for usage fluctuations.
  • • Inspect meters for tampering, defects, damage, or broken seals.
  • • Report meter irregularities, damaged equipment, access issues, or hazards to service teams.
  • • Answer basic customer questions or refer them to customer service.
  • • Update customer address and meter location information.
  • • Perform preventive maintenance or minor meter repairs within guidelines.
