Description
Plan, design, and furnish interior spaces in residential and commercial buildings. Create functional, aesthetic layouts aligned with purpose, budget, codes, and brand, and manage projects from concept through installation.
- • Estimate material requirements and costs, and present designs for client approval.
- • Meet with clients to define scope, goals, budget, schedule, and functional needs.
- • Advise on space planning, layouts, finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and color palettes.
- • Select or design and procure furnishings, artwork, lighting, and accessories.
- • Develop design concepts and environmental plans that improve usability, wellness, and brand experience.
- • Manage and coordinate procurement, fabrication, delivery, and installation of finishes, millwork, fixtures, and window treatments.
- • Produce sketches, mood boards, renderings, and presentations to convey design intent.
- • Create scaled drawings, specifications, and schedules using CAD/BIM software.
- • Coordinate with architects, contractors, engineers, and specialty consultants to integrate designs.
- • Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent.
- • Ensure designs meet building, fire, and health codes and ADA accessibility standards.
- • Conduct site visits and punch lists to verify quality and adherence to plans.
- • Specify sustainable materials and strategies to meet environmental goals and certifications.
- • Research and evaluate new products, materials, finishes, lighting, and technologies.
- • Prepare project budgets, proposals, and timelines; track costs and changes.
- • Maintain project documentation and manage RFIs, approvals, and change orders.
