Description
Plan, schedule, and control material requirements to support manufacturing, ensuring on-time availability, cost efficiency, proper inventory levels, and adherence to quality and compliance specifications.
  • • Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and procurement to resolve shortages and supply disruptions.
  • • Initiate and manage inventory control and cost reduction initiatives, including ABC classification and cycle counting.
  • • Prepare and maintain materials, inventory, and supplier performance reports and records.
  • • Ensure incoming materials meet specifications by coordinating with supplier quality and inspection.
  • • Implement and refine material tracking and planning systems; analyze exceptions and KPIs to detect issues.
  • • Support new product introductions by reviewing BOMs, setting planning parameters, and managing phase-in/phase-out and ECNs.
  • • Define and maintain MRP settings, lead times, safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes, and sourcing data.
  • • Stay current on materials management, MRP/ERP, and supply chain best practices.
  • • Partner with purchasing to negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • • Participate in supplier performance reviews and audits; drive corrective actions for delivery or quality issues.
  • • Develop and enforce standard procedures for materials planning, inventory accuracy, and kitting.
  • • Implement shortage escalation, expediting, and de-expediting procedures during supply changes.
  • • Maintain traceability and compliance records for materials per customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • • Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements for materials (e.g., RoHS/REACH) and update planning data accordingly.
  • • Optimize inventory and material flow to balance service levels, working capital, and material cost.
  • • Prepare dashboards and reports on on-time-to-schedule performance, inventory turns, excess and obsolete, and shortages.
  • • Coordinate cross-functional planning with buyers, schedulers, logistics, and engineering to align demand and supply.
  • • Coordinate material planning, procurement, and distribution to ensure on-time supply to production.
  • • Develop material requirements plans using MRP/ERP and approve purchase requisitions within budget.
  • • Review the master production schedule and orders to determine inventory needs and replenishment timing.
  • • Train stakeholders on MRP, BOM accuracy, and materials planning procedures.
