Description
Oversee hydroelectric power plant production to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient generation. Manage staff, equipment performance, compliance, and maintenance to meet output, cost, and environmental goals.
- • Develop and implement policy evaluation procedures for hydroelectric generation activities.
- • Provide technical direction for the erection and commissioning of hydroelectric equipment and supporting systems.
- • Lead projects to improve efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of plant operations.
- • Supervise equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
- • Resolve issues from ratepayers, water users, power users, agencies, and other stakeholders.
- • Plan and manage hydroelectric plant upgrades.
- • Plan and coordinate production operations to meet customer requirements.
- • Direct preventive or corrective containment or cleanup to protect the environment.
- • Oversee operation of energized high- and low-voltage substations per procedures and safety requirements.
- • Maintain records of facility operations, maintenance, and repairs.
- • Monitor and inspect turbines, generators, and control systems.
- • Inspect switchyards, control houses, and relay houses for normal operation and safety compliance.
- • Identify and communicate power system emergencies.
- • Develop and review budgets, annual plans, power contracts, rates, standard operating procedures, power reviews, and engineering studies.
- • Set and enforce hydrostation voltage schedules.
- • Verify compliance with operating limits for loads, voltages, temperatures, lines, and equipment.
- • Ensure facility operations and equipment comply with applicable regulations and standards.
- • Direct operations, maintenance, and repair of the hydroelectric facility.
