Description
Provide front-desk service by registering and assigning rooms, issuing keys, managing reservations and guest records, relaying messages, and presenting statements to and collecting payments from departing guests.
- • Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests.
- • Verify guests’ credit and determine payment methods.
- • Maintain records of room availability and guest accounts, manually or in a PMS.
- • Compute bills, collect payments, make change, and issue receipts.
- • Issue room keys and provide directions or instructions to bell staff.
- • Review accounts and charges with guests during checkout.
- • Post charges for rooms and services to ledgers or the PMS.
- • Transmit and receive messages via phone, email, or messaging systems.
- • Notify housekeeping or maintenance when guests report issues.
- • Make, confirm, and modify reservations and handle cancellations.
- • Record guest comments or complaints and escalate as needed.
- • Advise housekeeping when rooms are vacated and ready for cleaning.
- • Arrange transportation, tours, or restaurant reservations upon request.
- • Secure guests’ valuables in safes or safe-deposit boxes.
- • Sort, date-stamp, and distribute incoming mail and messages.
- • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including balancing accounts and nightly audits.
- • Answer questions about property services, registration, directions, and local attractions.
- • Keep the lobby and front-desk area clean, stocked, and orderly.
- • Set up basic food service, such as continental breakfast or coffee and tea.
- • Assist with scheduling or guiding other front-desk staff as needed.
