Description
Create digital and physical three-dimensional artwork by modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting, and rendering, translating concepts into assets and imagery for games, film, visualization, and installations.
- • Use 3D modeling, digital sculpting, texturing, lighting, and rendering tools to create three-dimensional artwork.
- • Integrate form, volume, scale, proportion, color, and light to achieve desired aesthetic or functional results.
- • Collaborate with clients, art directors, designers, and producers to define goals, style, and deliverables.
- • Present blockouts and polished renders for review, iterating based on feedback.
- • Maintain a portfolio and demo reel that showcases 3D skills and styles.
- • Produce 3D assets and imagery for storytelling, visualization, marketing, or installation.
- • Fabricate physical models or installations using 3D printing, CNC, or traditional sculpting when required.
- • Research references, trends, and techniques in 3D art, games, film, and design.
- • Learn and adopt new tools, plug-ins, and workflows to improve quality and efficiency.
- • Create product, environment, or architectural visualizations from sketches, blueprints, or reference materials.
- • Develop concept sketches and orthographic views to guide 3D production; create likenesses from photos or scans.
- • Sculpt high-resolution digital models and prepare them for production.
- • Estimate timelines, software, and material costs; plan asset schedules and budgets.
- • UV unwrap models, bake maps, and author PBR materials and textures.
- • Work with technical artists, riggers, and engineers to integrate assets into pipelines and engines.
- • Model stylized or realistic characters, creatures, props, and environments to match art direction.
- • Set up cameras, lighting, and render passes; composite final images or turntables.
- • Retopologize meshes and build clean, animation-ready topology.
- • Optimize geometry, textures, and materials to meet performance and memory budgets.
- • Assemble scenes and perform set dressing, layout, and level art.
- • Capture and organize reference photography, scans, or photogrammetry.
- • Manage asset libraries, naming conventions, and version control; package deliverables in required formats.
- • Test assets in target engines or renderers and resolve issues.
- • Prepare and install work for exhibitions, virtual galleries, or client presentations.
- • Promote work via portfolio sites, reels, and social channels; respond to commissions and inquiries.
- • Submit work to studios, contests, or galleries for review and publication.
- • Share knowledge and mentor or teach 3D techniques to peers or students.
- • Document workflows, style guides, and technical specifications for projects.
