Description
Apply practical environmental engineering methods to install, operate, and troubleshoot monitoring and treatment equipment; collect and analyze samples; and document results to support pollution prevention, waste treatment, and site remediation, under the direction of engineers or scientists. May assist with field investigations, bench-scale testing, and compliance activities.
  • • Provide data and vendor research to support technology evaluations for site cleanup.
  • • Operate and document bench-scale or pilot tests of treatment processes.
  • • Prepare and package environmental samples for shipment or laboratory testing.
  • • Compile data and documentation for permit applications and compliance reports.
  • • Record field and laboratory data, photographs, and observations.
  • • Collect and analyze air, water, wastewater, soil, or groundwater samples.
  • • Receive, set up, test, and decontaminate environmental equipment.
  • • Maintain field logs, lab records, and electronic data files.
  • • Perform environmental monitoring in field and office settings.
  • • Review checklists and forms for completeness and conformance.
  • • Follow work plans and schedules for field and laboratory activities.
  • • Order supplies and parts and track inventory of sampling and safety equipment.
  • • Coordinate proper disposal of hazardous materials per procedures.
  • • Assist with facility inspections for compliance with asbestos, lead, wastewater, or stormwater rules.
  • • Provide technical support for wastewater, stormwater, and remediation projects to meet regulations.
  • • Collect process data to support emission and waste reduction efforts.
  • • Assist in training junior staff on sampling, calibration, and safety practices.
  • • Assist in the cleanup of hazardous material spills.
  • • Compile environmental data and prepare tables, charts, and brief summaries.
  • • Monitor process parameters and report anomalies.
  • • Support assessments of construction impacts and pollution prevention programs by collecting data and documentation.
  • • Perform basic QA/QC and simple statistical checks on air and water data.
  • • Contribute input to work plans and material and equipment needs.
  • • Collect field measurements to support natural attenuation evaluations.
  • • Prepare input datasets for contaminant transport or dispersion models.
  • • Decontaminate and test field instruments used for soil, air, and water sampling.
