Description
Plan, design, and evaluate high-performance buildings to reduce energy use, carbon, and operating costs while improving indoor environmental quality. Collaborate across design and construction to integrate efficient HVAC, lighting, envelope, controls, and on-site renewables; lead green certification efforts and ensure compliance with energy and sustainability codes and standards.
  • • Conduct energy and sustainability audits of existing buildings to identify upgrades.
  • • Develop electrification, HVAC, lighting, and envelope efficiency strategies with savings estimates.
  • • Specify sustainable materials, low-emitting products, and high-efficiency equipment per project goals.
  • • Integrate on-site renewables and storage with building loads; assess feasibility and incentives.
  • • Ensure compliance with IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and local green codes; support permitting.
  • • Develop construction-phase QA/QC checklists and perform site inspections and functional tests.
  • • Train owners and facility staff on efficient operations, controls, and occupant engagement.
  • • Create dashboards and visualizations of building performance for stakeholders.
  • • Prepare sustainability reports, basis-of-design narratives, and OPR/BOD documentation.
  • • Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables for the green building scope.
  • • Pursue utility rebates, grants, and tax incentives for efficiency and low-carbon systems.
  • • Conduct post-occupancy evaluations and tune systems to meet performance targets.
  • • Advise on water efficiency, stormwater, and waste management practices for sustainable sites.
  • • Perform whole-building energy, load, daylighting, and thermal comfort modeling to inform design.
  • • Lead LEED or other green building certification strategy, documentation, and submittals.
  • • Commission and retro-commission building systems; develop M&V plans and verify performance.
  • • Design submetering and data acquisition; monitor and analyze utility and end-use consumption.
  • • Optimize building automation sequences and setpoints for efficiency and comfort.
  • • Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings for energy and IEQ performance.
  • • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to resolve sustainability design issues.
  • • Prepare life-cycle cost and carbon analyses, including embodied and operational impacts.
