Description
Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electric power lines and related equipment, performing switching and restoration to ensure reliable service while working aloft, underground, and around energized circuits.
  • • Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines and associated hardware.
  • • Install, change out, and maintain transformers, switches, fuses, reclosers, regulators, and capacitors.
  • • Patrol lines to locate faults, damage, or hazards and prioritize repairs.
  • • Open, close, tag, and ground lines and devices to isolate circuits and restore service.
  • • Inspect and test lines and equipment using voltmeters, phasing sticks, hot sticks, and other test devices.
  • • Read maps, schematics, and work orders; coordinate with dispatch and engineering on switching and work plans.
  • • Set and frame poles; install crossarms, insulators, guys, anchors, and hardware using bucket trucks and climbing gear.
  • • String, sag, and tie in conductors; make connections to services and equipment.
  • • Splice and terminate overhead conductors and underground cables; perform continuity and insulation resistance tests.
  • • Install and maintain pad-mounted gear, enclosures, handholes, and terminations for underground systems.
  • • Check and maintain transformer oil levels and bushings; replace fuses, connectors, and arresters as needed.
  • • Operate digger derricks, bucket trucks, tensioners, pullers, and other line construction equipment safely.
  • • Lead or assist crews in rigging, energized work procedures, job briefings, and tailboard safety meetings.
  • • Document work performed, switching, clearances, materials used, and test results.
  • • Respond to storms and emergencies; perform after-hours callouts to restore power.
