Description
Teach undergraduate and, when appropriate, graduate economics courses with a primary focus on instruction, curriculum development, and student support; may engage in limited scholarship and service.
- • Prepare and deliver lectures and interactive lessons in areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics.
- • Develop syllabi, assignments, rubrics, and course handouts aligned with learning outcomes.
- • Evaluate and grade exams, projects, and papers in a timely manner.
- • Create, administer, and grade assessments, or coordinate grading with teaching assistants.
- • Stay current in economics and pedagogy through reading, workshops, and conferences.
- • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and other required records in the LMS.
- • Facilitate discussions, problem-solving sessions, and active-learning activities.
- • Hold regular office hours to advise and assist students.
- • Select and order textbooks, software, datasets, and other instructional materials.
- • Plan, evaluate, and revise course content, materials, and teaching methods.
- • Engage in discipline-related or teaching-focused scholarship as assigned or appropriate.
- • Supervise and mentor teaching assistants, tutors, or student researchers.
- • Advise students on academic pathways, course selection, and career options.
- • Serve on departmental and college committees related to curriculum and assessment.
- • Collaborate with colleagues on multi-section coordination and instructional improvement.
- • Compile reading lists and resources for independent study and enrichment.
- • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and registration activities.
- • Perform program and departmental service and administrative tasks as assigned.
- • Contribute to assessment, accreditation, and program review processes.
- • Participate in campus and community outreach and events.
- • Provide applied expertise to community, government, or industry partners when appropriate.
- • Advise or sponsor economics-related student organizations and clubs.
