Description
Set up, operate, and monitor mills and related equipment to grind, blend, and process raw materials to specified size, moisture, and quality in a safe, efficient production environment.
- • Read production orders and milling schedules to determine specifications and targets.
- • Monitor mills and process equipment to maintain flow, safety, and efficient operation, and to detect faults.
- • Start, stop, and adjust mills, feeders, pumps, and control systems as needed.
- • Record throughput, settings, test results, and downtime in logs or electronic systems.
- • Visually inspect feed and finished product for size, quality, and contamination.
- • Weigh or measure feed, additives, and product at set intervals to meet specifications.
- • Clean, lubricate, and make minor adjustments to mills and auxiliary equipment.
- • Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with supervisors or maintenance.
- • Set mill controls or gauges to achieve required grind size or fineness.
- • Segregate off-spec product and correct process settings to resolve issues.
- • Keep work areas, platforms, and walkways clean and free of hazards.
- • Move materials and products using conveyors, chutes, and hand tools.
- • Clear blockages and jams from mills, chutes, and conveyors using hand tools.
- • Inspect belts, liners, screens, and drive components for wear or damage.
- • Tend accessory equipment such as classifiers, dust collectors, and conveyors.
- • Test samples for particle size, moisture, density, or other specifications using test equipment.
- • Collect process samples and deliver them for laboratory analysis.
- • Label bins, silos, or totes with product type, lot, and date.
- • Adjust water addition or airflow to control moisture and dust.
- • Load raw materials into hoppers or mills using hand tools or loaders.
- • Add reagents or additives per formula and safety procedures.
