Description
Assess, interpret, and report on environmental conditions and impacts to support resource protection, regulatory compliance, and sustainable development. Analyze field, laboratory, and GIS data, model risks, and develop mitigation and management plans that minimize environmental harm. Advise agencies, businesses, and landowners on best practices and permit requirements for water, soil, air, and habitat.
  • • Design and recommend soil, water, and stormwater management best practices in accordance with environmental plans.
  • • Advise public agencies, businesses, and landowners on compliance options and environmental solutions.
  • • Monitor projects during and after construction to verify environmental compliance and performance.
  • • Inspect sites with erosion, contamination, or habitat impacts to diagnose causes and solutions.
  • • Maintain working relationships with local, state, and federal regulators and stakeholders.
  • • Apply principles of environmental science, hydrology, ecology, and soil science to meet project objectives.
  • • Use GIS and remote sensing to compile and analyze environmental datasets and support recommendations.
  • • Develop technical specifications and design inputs for mitigation, monitoring, and control measures.
  • • Serve on cross-functional teams to plan and implement programs for habitat, water, or soil resource improvement.
  • • Conduct fact-finding and facilitate discussions among agencies, communities, and landowners to resolve environmental issues.
  • • Conduct follow-up site visits to evaluate implemented practices and recommend adjustments.
  • • Respond to public or stakeholder inquiries on jurisdictional resources and regulatory applicability.
  • • Prepare cost estimates and cost–benefit analyses for environmental controls and mitigation alternatives.
  • • Provide technical training and guidance to clients and agencies on water, soil, and air management practices.
  • • Analyze sampling and investigation results to determine corrective actions and restoration needs.
  • • Coordinate technical and administrative assistance programs to ensure timely responses and effective implementation.
  • • Recommend integrated pest and invasive species management strategies consistent with IPM principles.
  • • Review and provide technical input on wetland delineations, restoration plans, and conservation easements.
  • • Plan and conduct environmental surveys and studies to inform impact assessments and mitigation plans.
  • • Manage project documentation and coordinate field staff and subcontractors as needed.
  • • Develop conservation and resource management plans, including reforestation, riparian buffers, and erosion control.
  • • Schedule and perform environmental audits and compliance checks for facilities and projects.
  • • Develop water conservation, demand, and stormwater management plans using hydrologic and climate data.
  • • Review and comment on environmental sections of comprehensive plans, permits, and policy amendments.
  • • Design and execute studies such as habitat assessments, pollutant fate analyses, or plant trials.
  • • Enter and QA/QC environmental data in databases, models, and web-based decision tools.
  • • Compile and interpret biological and wetland data to support determinations and program design.
  • • Prepare or review required environmental reports and certify compliance with reporting mandates.
  • • Prepare or review grant applications and make funding recommendations for environmental projects.
  • • Develop maps and visualizations of environmental resources, constraints, and monitoring results.
