Description
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines to produce precision parts to specification. Interpret blueprints, select tooling and fixtures, load and edit programs, verify quality, and perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • • Set up CNC mills/lathes by installing tooling, fixtures, and workholding per job orders.
  • • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and process sheets to determine required operations.
  • • Load part programs and establish work and tool offsets; perform dry runs and prove-outs.
  • • Select cutting tools, holders, speeds, and feeds based on material and geometry.
  • • Determine reference points and set zeros using probing systems or edge finders.
  • • Perform first-article and in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • • Monitor machine operations; adjust offsets, speeds, feeds, and coolant to hold tolerances and finish.
  • • Troubleshoot dimensional issues, tool wear, chatter, and chip control; replace and preset tools.
  • • Edit G/M code at the control to correct issues or improve cycle time within process limits.
  • • Deburr, clean, and finish parts to meet specifications.
  • • Document setups, tool lists, offsets, and quality results; complete production records.
  • • Plan and stage jobs, tooling, and materials to minimize changeovers and maximize machine utilization.
  • • Retrieve and transfer programs via DNC or network and verify correct revisions are used.
  • • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs; keep machines and work area clean and safe.
  • • Collaborate with engineering and programming to resolve problems and improve processes.
