Description
Design and develop exterior, interior, and HMI for passenger and commercial vehicles. Combine artistic vision with user research, brand strategy, engineering, aerodynamics, safety, materials, and manufacturing to create functional, appealing, and production-feasible automobiles.
  • • Create exterior, interior, and HMI sketches, renderings, and Class-A/CAS 3D models using hand sketching, CAD, and visualization tools.
  • • Lead clay modeling and prototype builds; produce or oversee package drawings, surface data, and design specifications.
  • • Iterate designs with clay and digital models to meet brand DNA, ergonomic and packaging constraints, and tooling limits.
  • • Define and maintain a cohesive design language across vehicle lines, trims, and refreshes.
  • • Collaborate with engineering, aerodynamics, HMI, manufacturing, marketing, and user research to shape and evaluate concepts.
  • • Present concepts and design rationales at studio reviews and executive gates; capture feedback and update proposals.
  • • Assess feasibility against regulations (e.g., FMVSS and pedestrian protection), aerodynamics, usability, serviceability, cost, materials, and production methods.
  • • Benchmark competitor vehicles, attend auto shows, and track trends in mobility, materials, lighting, and UX.
  • • Research materials, finishes, and processes (stamping, molding, casting, additive) and support cost and tooling estimates.
  • • Design badging, decals, color and graphics, and infotainment/UI visual assets aligned with brand.
  • • Drive design-for-manufacture; support plant trials and resolve fit, finish, and quality issues at launch.
  • • Mentor junior designers and coordinate work of clay modelers and digital surfacing teams.
  • • Build appearance and functional mockups using clay, foam, 3D prints, and shop tools.
  • • Study vehicle attributes such as safety, ergonomics, visibility, HMI, cargo usability, manufacturability, and serviceability, and their impact on appeal.
  • • Develop internal design standards, CMF libraries, and brand guidelines; ensure compliance with regulatory constraints.
  • • Participate in advanced design, concept car programs, user studies, and market analysis to identify new vehicle opportunities.
  • • Advise on brand identity, CMF strategy, and launch or marketing imagery to strengthen the vehicle and corporate image.
