Behavior Analysts assess environmental variables influencing behavior and design, implement, and supervise applied behavior analysis interventions to build skills and reduce challenging behavior. They conduct functional assessments, analyze data, and create individualized, function-based treatment plans across home, school, clinic, and community settings. They train and supervise caregivers and staff to deliver interventions with fidelity, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and ensure ethical, culturally responsive, evidence-based practice. May develop behavior-support programs, evaluate outcomes with single-case designs, and consult on systems-level interventions.
  • • Conduct functional behavior assessments using interviews, observations, and record review.
  • • Collect and analyze ABC and other direct measurement data to identify behavior functions.
  • • Conduct skills assessments to inform individualized goals.
  • • Design and write function-based behavior intervention plans.
  • • Develop skill acquisition programs using evidence-based ABA procedures.
  • • Train and coach caregivers, teachers, and technicians to implement plans with fidelity.
  • • Supervise RBTs and other implementers, providing performance feedback and competency checks.
  • • Graph and visually analyze data to monitor progress and make data-based decisions.
  • • Modify interventions based on treatment outcomes, contextual fit, and client preferences.
  • • Perform preference and reinforcer assessments to guide intervention.
  • • Conduct functional analyses when indicated and safe.
  • • Establish generalization and maintenance plans across people, settings, and stimuli.
  • • Create crisis/safety plans and conduct risk assessments for dangerous behavior.
  • • Coordinate care and goals with interdisciplinary teams and schools.
  • • Prepare treatment plans, session notes, progress reports, and payer-required documentation.
  • • Ensure client assent, informed consent, and culturally responsive, socially valid goals.
  • • Evaluate treatment integrity and interobserver agreement to assure data quality.
  • • Use least restrictive and ethical behavior-reduction strategies, emphasizing reinforcement-based approaches.
  • • Consult with organizations or classrooms to design tiered behavior supports and systems.
  • • Provide parent and caregiver training and workshops on behavior strategies.
  • • Use practice management and data systems to maintain timely, accurate records in compliance with privacy laws.
  • • Recommend referrals to medical, educational, or social services when needs fall outside ABA scope.
  • • Maintain current knowledge of ABA research and practice standards and apply them to services.
  • • Develop and deliver staff training curricula on ABA methods and ethical practice.
  • • Plan and conduct applied research or program evaluations using single-case design.
  • • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute behavioral goals and progress summaries.
  • • Implement telehealth ABA services when appropriate and feasible.
  • • Conduct vocational, adaptive, and daily living skills training as part of transition plans.
  • • Monitor and report adverse events, restrictive procedure use, and outcomes per policy.
  • • Lead or contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
