Description
Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses and syntheses of inorganic compounds and materials in laboratory settings for quality/process control, research, and product development.
- • Author technical reports, SOPs, and specifications for materials, processes, and tests.
- • Prepare calibration standards, reagents, and reference materials for inorganic analyses.
- • Maintain and calibrate instruments such as XRD, ICP systems, furnaces, gloveboxes, and Schlenk lines; troubleshoot malfunctions.
- • Perform quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished inorganic products.
- • Evaluate and enforce laboratory safety practices for handling corrosives, oxidizers, toxic metals, compressed gases, and waste disposal.
- • Manage inventory and procurement of inorganic chemicals, gases, standards, and consumables; track shelf life and certifications.
- • Analyze inorganic materials to determine composition, structure, and properties using XRD, ICP-OES/MS, AAS, SEM-EDS, FTIR/UV-Vis, or Raman.
- • Develop, optimize, and scale inorganic syntheses, formulations, and materials (e.g., catalysts, ceramics, coatings, battery components).
- • Compile and interpret test data to assess process performance, product quality, and equipment efficiency.
- • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to design experiments, interpret results, and develop nonstandard test methods.
- • Direct and train personnel in procedures for sampling, preparation, and analysis of inorganic materials.
- • Conduct thermal treatments, redox reactions, or photochemical studies to evaluate reactions and material transformations.
