Description
Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and experiments in the laboratory to support quality or process control and to develop new products, processes, or scientific knowledge.
  • • Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine properties, composition, structure, and reactions using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry.
  • • Develop and improve products, equipment, formulations, processes, and analytical methods.
  • • Compile and analyze test data to assess process or equipment efficiency and diagnose malfunctions.
  • • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to plan analyses, interpret results, and develop nonstandard tests.
  • • Direct, coordinate, or advise personnel on test procedures for analyzing material components and properties.
  • • Induce compositional changes using heat, light, energy, or catalysts for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • • Write technical reports and papers; prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
  • • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • • Conduct quality control tests.
  • • Evaluate laboratory safety procedures for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • • Monitor inventory and purchase laboratory supplies and chemicals.
  • • Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents.
