Description
Monitor, control, and optimize chemical plant operations through DCS/SCADA and field oversight to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production.
- • Adjust setpoints, control loops, and valve positions to maintain reaction rates, quality, and yields.
- • Monitor DCS trends, flowmeters, gauges, and alarms to verify process conditions.
- • Operate processes and utilities via DCS/SCADA, PLC interfaces, and control panels.
- • Log operating data, events, and instrument readings in shift logs and electronic systems.
- • Communicate with engineering, maintenance, and supervision to resolve issues affecting safety, efficiency, or quality.
- • Collect process samples and perform basic quality checks; coordinate lab testing and implement adjustments.
- • Execute startups, shutdowns, and emergency procedures per SOPs and permits.
- • Start and stop pumps, compressors, and blowers to wash vessels, vent gases, and regulate flows.
- • Analyze trends, lab results, and field observations to recommend or implement process changes.
- • Conduct field rounds to verify equipment status, leaks, and tank levels; prevent overflows.
- • Create maintenance notifications and coordinate power, steam, water, air, and nitrogen supplies.
- • Inspect towers, reactors, scrubbers, dryers, and tanks to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
- • Direct field operators during lineups, lockouts, and equipment switches.
- • Line up systems and operate valves to route products and byproducts through tanks and process units.
- • Calculate material balances, batch quantities, and yields using formulas and DCS data.
- • Verify tank levels with instruments and perform manual gauging when required.
- • Perform minor troubleshooting and adjustments; assist maintenance during testing and commissioning.
- • Implement freeze protection and de-icing using approved methods; coordinate steam-outs.
- • Plan and coordinate cleaning of towers, strainers, and spray tips; prepare equipment for isolation and cleaning.
- • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations and site permits.
