Description
Operate and monitor chemical plant equipment and processes to produce materials safely, efficiently, and within quality and environmental standards.
- • Adjust controls to regulate reaction rates, product quality, and yields.
- • Monitor DCS panels, gauges, and alarms to verify process conditions.
- • Operate plant processes via panelboards, control systems, and semi-automatic equipment.
- • Record operating data, including conditions, test results, and instrument readings.
- • Communicate with supervisors and technical staff to resolve safety, efficiency, or quality issues.
- • Collect samples and perform basic quality tests to verify compliance.
- • Execute start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency procedures per protocols.
- • Start and regulate pumps to transfer feeds and utilities and to wash or rinse vessels.
- • Interpret reactions via sight glasses and monitors and adjust processes using lab results.
- • Patrol units to prevent spills, overflows, and unsafe conditions.
- • Notify maintenance and utilities personnel to correct malfunctions or adjust services.
- • Inspect towers, scrubbers, dryers, and tanks to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
- • Coordinate and direct crew operating material flow equipment.
- • Operate valves to control flows through tanks, drums, and neutralizers.
- • Calculate material requirements and yields using standard formulas.
- • Gauge tank levels with calibrated devices and verify inventory.
- • Perform minor equipment adjustments and assist with repairs.
- • Defrost frozen valves or lines using approved methods.
- • Oversee cleaning of towers, strainers, and spray tips.
