Description
Set up, operate, and monitor video systems to acquire, route, shade, record, and play back images for live and recorded television, streaming, and studio productions. Regulate and match camera and source video levels, color, and timing to ensure signal integrity across routers, switchers, and servers. Troubleshoot video paths and coordinate with technical directors, engineers, and producers to maintain on-air picture quality.
  • • Monitor and adjust video levels, color balance, and exposure to maintain consistent picture quality.
  • • Shade and match cameras via CCU/RCP using waveform and vectorscope.
  • • Regulate brightness, contrast, and fidelity on video console control panels.
  • • Monitor strength, clarity, and reliability of incoming and outgoing video signals and correct issues.
  • • Route and switch video sources through routers and production switchers as scheduled.
  • • Preview and QC scheduled video files and feeds to verify readiness for air or recording.
  • • Ingest, label, and manage video assets on servers and playback systems.
  • • Roll and record video segments and ISO feeds according to rundown and timing cues.
  • • Substitute alternate video sources or playback elements when primary signals fail.
  • • Observe multiview monitors and coordinate with technical directors and engineers to maintain on-air quality.
  • • Align and genlock cameras and sources; adjust timing, phase, and lip-sync as needed.
  • • Calibrate monitors and set reference levels in control rooms and on set.
  • • Prepare and line up cameras before rehearsals, including white/black balance and paint profiles.
  • • Set up and operate field video control equipment for remotes and live streams.
  • • Perform basic non-linear editing, trimming, and format conversions for playback.
  • • Maintain video control, QC, and playout logs per facility procedures.
  • • Diagnose and report equipment faults; perform minor adjustments or swaps to restore service.
  • • Patch video signals and configure routing panels and tally/UMD labels.
  • • Coordinate technical requirements with producers and camera operators.
  • • Provide technical direction on framing, exposure, and return video during shoots.
  • • Verify closed captioning, aspect ratios, and safe action/title compliance.
  • • Ensure color pipeline consistency across cameras, graphics, and playback sources.
  • • Back up and archive recorded material following naming and storage standards.
  • • Create dubs or exports of segments for clients and internal distribution.
  • • Train assistants or trainees on video control room procedures and QC standards.
  • • Follow engineering guidelines and escalate issues according to SOPs.
