Description
Receive, move, and prepare biomass fuels for plant use, monitoring quality and inventory while operating and maintaining fuel handling systems safely and efficiently.
- • Receive, weigh, and document incoming biomass fuels such as wood chips, waste, or refuse-derived materials.
- • Measure and monitor fuel inventory, moisture, size, and contamination levels.
- • Calculate, load, and mix feedstock blends to meet combustion or process specifications.
- • Operate conveyors, feeders, hoppers, and transfer systems to supply fuel to boilers or gasifiers.
- • Operate valves, pumps, and gates to control fuel flow and dust suppression systems.
- • Preprocess fuel by screening, shredding, drying, or densifying as required.
- • Operate heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, bulldozers, and forklifts, to move and stockpile fuel.
- • Inspect storage yards, silos, and handling equipment; report damage, blockages, or mechanical issues.
- • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fuel handling, conveying, and dust collection systems.
- • Calibrate and verify scales, belt weighers, moisture meters, and flow meters.
- • Monitor and maintain pile integrity; manage reclaiming and rotation to prevent hotspots, fires, or freezing.
- • Start up, shut down, and clear jams on conveyors, feeders, and related auxiliary systems.
- • Record operating data, loads, meter readings, and quality results in logs or digital systems.
- • Clean handling areas, equipment, and spill zones to meet housekeeping and safety standards.
- • Manage parts, consumables, and PPE inventories for fuel handling operations.
- • Read and interpret operating procedures, safety data sheets, and equipment manuals.
- • Coordinate with operations and maintenance to meet fuel demand and resolve issues.
