Description
Prepare detailed architectural drawings and BIM models for buildings, translating sketches and engineering inputs into accurate plans, elevations, sections, and details. Apply knowledge of building materials, construction methods, codes, and mathematics to produce coordinated, buildable documentation.
- • Produce architectural drawings and BIM models from sketches, markups, and specifications using CAD/BIM software.
- • Draft plans, elevations, sections, and details for buildings, interiors, and site layouts.
- • Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs.
- • Interpret and apply building codes, zoning, and accessibility requirements to drawings.
- • Lay out interior room arrangements and reflected ceiling plans with dimensions and annotations.
- • Develop wall sections, stair details, facade details, and other constructible details.
- • Set up drawing sheets, views, and templates; maintain CAD/BIM standards and naming conventions.
- • Assemble permit, bid, and construction document sets and manage revisions.
- • Check dimensions, levels, and clearances; verify fits and tolerances against manufacturer data.
- • Create and maintain door, window, finish, equipment, and room schedules.
- • Conduct site visits to take field measurements and produce as-built drawings.
- • Explain drawings to project teams and contractors and incorporate review comments.
- • Obtain and organize survey, utility, and existing-conditions data for architectural plans.
- • Prepare quantity takeoffs and basic cost and area summaries to support estimates.
- • Perform basic code-related calculations such as occupancy loads and egress widths.
- • Produce presentation graphics, colored plans, and 3D views for client review.
- • Determine drawing order, scale, and method of presentation (orthographic, isometric, axonometric).
- • Review and redline drawings for accuracy and compliance with design intent.
- • Plot, export, and issue drawing sets; maintain version control and transmittal logs.
- • Assist with RFIs, addenda, and shop drawing reviews and update documents accordingly.
- • Provide guidance to junior drafters or interns on standards and workflows.
