Description
Provide daily care for boarded dogs and cats in a kennel by feeding, watering, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring health and behavior. Work in boarding, daycare, and veterinary kennels. Maintain records, communicate with clients, and keep runs, play areas, and equipment clean, safe, and in good repair.
- • Bathe, brush, and perform basic grooming as requested.
- • Feed and water dogs and cats per schedules and dietary instructions.
- • Administer oral or topical medications as directed and document doses.
- • Monitor animals for signs of stress, illness, or injury and report promptly.
- • Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, litter boxes, dishes, and play areas.
- • Perform laundry for bedding, towels, and uniforms.
- • Walk dogs and supervise group play to provide exercise and enrichment.
- • Record intake, feedings, eliminations, behavior, and treatments in logs or software.
- • Verify vaccination records and required paperwork at check-in.
- • Greet clients, answer phones, and schedule boarding or daycare appointments.
- • Conduct pet intake and discharge, reviewing care instructions and belongings.
- • Prepare and mix food, supplements, and special diets according to instructions.
- • Maintain cleanliness and odor control using approved chemicals and protocols.
- • Sanitize and restock food prep areas, cleaning supplies, and laundry goods.
- • Set up kennels with bedding, water, and enrichment; adjust climate as needed.
- • Safely leash, crate, and move animals between runs, play yards, and grooming areas.
- • Follow handling protocols for reactive or special-needs animals and use PPE.
- • Observe playgroups and manage dog interactions to ensure safety.
- • Identify maintenance needs and perform minor repairs on kennels and equipment.
- • Receive, store, and rotate feed, treats, and supplies.
- • Assist with retail sales of pet food, treats, and accessories at pickup.
- • Follow emergency and sanitation procedures, including waste disposal and incident reporting.
