Description
Pilot and navigate fixed-wing aircraft on scheduled air carrier routes to transport passengers and cargo. Serve as pilot in command or second in command, ensuring safe, efficient operations in compliance with FAA regulations, company SOPs, and air traffic control clearances. Requires an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and aircraft type rating; includes domestic and international operations.
- • Use instruments and onboard avionics to guide flights in low visibility and instrument meteorological conditions.
- • Respond to, manage, and report in-flight emergencies, abnormalities, and malfunctions.
- • Operate as part of a multi-person cockpit crew, especially during takeoff and landing.
- • Communicate with air traffic control for clearances, routing, and advisories via radio and datalink.
- • Navigate along planned routes using the flight management system and autopilot.
- • Monitor engine parameters, system indications, and warning devices; adjust controls as needed.
- • Start engines, taxi, and fly aircraft per flight plans, regulations, and company procedures.
- • Conduct preflight inspections and verify aircraft status, MEL/CDL items, and maintenance releases.
- • Verify passenger and cargo loading, fuel quantity, and weight-and-balance limits.
- • Track fuel burn and system performance throughout the flight.
- • Coordinate with dispatch and review weather, NOTAMs, and operational data.
- • Coordinate with ground crews for fueling, pushback, deicing, and servicing.
- • Request changes to fuel loads, routes, or altitudes to maintain safety and efficiency.
- • Select routes, altitudes, and speeds for the safest, most efficient, and comfortable flight.
- • Lead and brief flight and cabin crews on flight details, safety procedures, and duties.
- • Make required PA announcements and communicate with passengers and crew.
- • File, accept, or amend IFR flight plans to integrate with other air traffic.
- • Document flight times, delays, and discrepancies in logs and company systems.
- • Write up discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance; perform permitted MEL/CDL procedures.
- • Conduct departure, enroute, and approach briefings and apply crew resource management.
