Description
Provide preflight and in-flight advisory services to pilots, including weather, NOTAMs, airspace, and flight planning. Receive and process flight plans, relay ATC clearances, issue advisories at designated airports, and coordinate search-and-rescue and aeronautical information with ATC, airports, and emergency services to enhance safety.
  • • Provide preflight briefings on weather, NOTAMs, airspace, and preferred routes.
  • • Receive, review, file, open, amend, and close VFR/IFR flight plans.
  • • Offer in-flight advisory services and updated information via radio or telephone.
  • • Collect and disseminate pilot weather reports (PIREPs).
  • • Relay ATC clearances, amendments, and departure releases when required.
  • • Initiate and coordinate search-and-rescue alerting for overdue or missing aircraft.
  • • Issue, update, and disseminate NOTAMs within delegated authority.
  • • Provide airport advisory information at designated airports, including winds, altimeter settings, runway conditions, and known traffic.
  • • Broadcast hazardous weather, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, and airspace restrictions to affected pilots.
  • • Assist pilots with route, fuel, altitude, and alternate planning using current data.
  • • Maintain continuous watch on assigned frequencies and communication lines.
  • • Coordinate information exchange with ATC facilities, airports, meteorological services, and emergency responders.
  • • Monitor the status of NAVAIDs, communications, and airport facilities; report irregularities.
  • • Provide status of special-use airspace, TFRs, and other airspace activities.
  • • Support opening and activation of flight plans at remote or non-towered locations.
  • • Record and maintain logs of briefings, flight plans, position reports, and operational messages in accordance with regulations.
  • • Compile and update aeronautical information from charts, databases, and publications.
  • • Respond to emergency calls and provide checklists, frequencies, and coordination assistance to pilots.
  • • Conduct operational checks of radios, recorders, and backup systems; escalate faults for maintenance.
  • • Provide telephone information services to pilots, dispatchers, and other users.
  • • Facilitate pilot reports of wildlife, runway hazards, or facility issues to appropriate authorities.
  • • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for new flight service specialists.
