Description
Lead and manage air traffic control facility operations to ensure the safe, orderly, and expeditious movement of aircraft within the airport and assigned airspace. Oversee staff, resources, and procedures; coordinate traffic flow between sectors and centers; and ensure compliance, training, and readiness for normal and emergency operations under FAA and company policies.
- • Direct daily ATC operations to meet safety, capacity, and efficiency targets.
- • Plan staffing levels, shift schedules, and position assignments based on traffic demand.
- • Supervise controllers and support staff; provide guidance and resolve operational issues.
- • Monitor operational performance and delays; implement traffic management improvements.
- • Coordinate flow initiatives, reroutes, and ground delay programs with adjacent facilities and the national command center.
- • Approve and disseminate operational advisories, weather impacts, and runway configuration decisions.
- • Establish, update, and enforce SOPs, LOAs, and facility directives.
- • Lead response to incidents, emergencies, and irregular operations in coordination with airport and emergency services.
- • Conduct occurrence reviews and investigations; file required reports and corrective actions.
- • Oversee training, proficiency checks, and controller certifications; manage OJT and recurrent training.
- • Conduct shift briefings and debriefings to communicate hazards and priorities.
- • Liaise with airlines, pilot groups, airport authorities, and regulators on operational matters.
- • Manage equipment status and outages; coordinate maintenance with Technical Operations and IT.
- • Coordinate NOTAMs and service advisories with airport and technical stakeholders.
- • Develop and test contingency and continuity plans for weather, equipment, or staffing disruptions.
- • Review and approve traffic management plans, sectorization, and runway use strategies.
- • Ensure accurate records, logs, and documentation in accordance with federal requirements.
- • Support audits and inspections; administer quality assurance and SMS processes.
- • Manage facility budget, procurement, and resource allocation.
- • Analyze weather, traffic forecasts, and airspace constraints to set operational posture.
- • Represent the facility at stakeholder meetings and community briefings.
- • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions; mentor new supervisors.
