Description
Design and deliver individualized adapted fitness training for children, youth, or adults with disabilities, chronic conditions, or motor impairments to improve health, function, and participation.
  • • Review adapted fitness programs and facility practices for compliance with safety regulations, ADA, and organizational policies.
  • • Request or order adapted fitness equipment and assistive devices per purchasing procedures.
  • • Prepare progress reports summarizing client performance, functional changes, and goals achieved.
  • • Attend continuing education, certifications, and workshops on adapted training and inclusive fitness.
  • • Develop and update individualized fitness plans based on assessments and medical guidance.
  • • Provide positive, motivating feedback to build client confidence and adherence.
  • • Deliver one-on-one or small-group adapted fitness sessions aligned with client goals.
  • • Plan sessions that reflect individualized fitness plans and functional abilities.
  • • Maintain confidential client records for intake, attendance, participation, and outcomes.
  • • Maintain inventory and readiness of adapted equipment, materials, and supports.
  • • Conduct intake assessments of motor function, mobility, balance, and fitness needs.
  • • Enforce safety protocols and create an inclusive, supportive training environment.
  • • Communicate observations and progress to clients, caregivers, and referring providers.
  • • Screen clients and stratify risk to determine appropriate program placement.
  • • Reassess clients regularly to track progress and update goals or exercises.
  • • Advise staff on client abilities and required accommodations to support participation.
  • • Adapt exercises and instruction to age, abilities, assistive devices, and learning styles.
  • • Provide adapted fitness services to clients with intellectual disabilities, autism, TBI, stroke, or orthopedic impairments.
  • • Coach clients using adapted techniques to improve fitness, balance, motor skills, and functional independence.
  • • Collaborate with physical and occupational therapists, healthcare providers, and community partners on inclusive programs.
