Description
Design and oversee potable water supply, wastewater and sewage systems, and flood-mitigation projects. Prepare environmental and regulatory documentation, manage and analyze data, conduct field investigations, and perform hydraulic modeling and pipeline design.
  • • Design water storage tanks and related storage facilities.
  • • Design stormwater runoff collection networks, supply channels, and distribution networks.
  • • Design water and wastewater lift stations and wells.
  • • Design potable and non-potable water distribution systems.
  • • Design sludge treatment facilities.
  • • Design pumping systems, pump stations, pipelines, force mains, and sewers for wastewater collection.
  • • Design domestic and industrial water or wastewater treatment plants, including advanced facilities with sequencing batch reactors (SBR), membranes, UV disinfection, digesters, and headworks.
  • • Evaluate operations and maintenance of water and wastewater systems to improve efficiency.
  • • Design or select wastewater processing equipment to meet regulatory standards.
  • • Conduct water quality studies to identify and characterize pollutant sources.
  • • Write technical reports and publications on water resources and water-use efficiency.
  • • Review and critique proposals, plans, and designs for water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • • Provide technical support on water resource and treatment issues to government agencies.
  • • Direct or supervise junior engineers and CAD or technical staff.
  • • Identify and evaluate design alternatives for new water resources.
  • • Develop plans for water resource projects and efficiency programs.
  • • Perform mathematical modeling of groundwater and surface water, including floodplains, rivers, and wetlands.
  • • Perform hydrologic analyses with 3D simulation to model water movement and pollutant dispersion.
  • • Perform hydraulic analyses of water supply and distribution networks to assess flow, pressure losses, and risk mitigation opportunities.
  • • Oversee construction of decentralized or on-site wastewater systems and reclaimed water facilities.
  • • Gather and analyze water-use data to forecast demand.
  • • Conduct feasibility studies for water supply systems, runoff collection networks, treatment plants, and collection systems.
  • • Prepare environmental impact studies for water and wastewater collection, treatment, and distribution.
  • • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • • Analyze efficiency of water delivery structures, including dams, gates, canals, pipes, penstocks, and cofferdams.
  • • Analyze stormwater and floodplain drainage to control erosion, stabilize banks, restore channels, and design crossings.
  • • Evaluate and recommend sludge treatment and disposal methods.
  • • Evaluate and recommend chemical, biological, or other wastewater treatment processes for domestic or industrial use.
