Description
Plan, design, and oversee investigation and remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor to protect human health and the environment. Prepare environmental documentation for regulatory compliance (e.g., CERCLA/RCRA/state programs), data management and analysis, and field work. Perform contaminant fate and transport modeling and design of remediation systems.
  • • Analyze and recommend in-situ and ex-situ remediation methods (e.g., ISCO, ISCR, bioremediation, thermal).
  • • Design leachate and groundwater storage and equalization tanks for remediation systems.
  • • Design stormwater controls, source control measures, and containment systems for impacted sites.
  • • Design extraction, injection, and vapor mitigation systems, including wells and conveyance piping.
  • • Design remedial fluid and air distribution networks for SVE, multi-phase extraction, and air sparging systems.
  • • Design solids handling and dewatering systems for contaminated soils and sludge.
  • • Design pumping systems, manifolds, and piping for groundwater and leachate collection and conveyance.
  • • Write technical reports and publications on site investigations, remedial alternatives, and cleanup performance.
  • • Review and critique remedial investigation plans, feasibility studies, and remedial designs.
  • • Provide technical support on contaminated site and remediation issues to government agencies and clients.
  • • Provide technical direction or supervision to junior engineers, geologists, and CAD/GIS technicians.
  • • Identify remedial alternatives for soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor contamination.
  • • Develop remedial action plans, sampling plans, and long-term monitoring programs.
  • • Design or select remediation equipment (e.g., pumps, SVE blowers, air strippers, GAC units) to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • • Conduct soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion investigations to characterize contaminant sources and plumes.
  • • Perform mathematical modeling of contaminant fate and transport in soil and groundwater (e.g., MODFLOW/MT3D).
  • • Perform hydrogeologic analyses, including 3D simulations, to predict plume migration and remedial effectiveness.
  • • Perform hydraulic analyses of extraction and injection wells and capture zones to optimize containment and treatment.
  • • Oversee construction and startup of remediation systems, including pump-and-treat, SVE, in-situ treatment, and permeable reactive barriers.
  • • Gather and analyze environmental data to evaluate risk and prioritize remediation.
  • • Conduct feasibility studies for remediation technologies and site cleanup strategies.
  • • Conduct environmental impact and human health risk assessments related to remediation activities.
  • • Conduct cost-benefit and lifecycle analyses for remedial alternatives and closure strategies.
  • • Analyze the performance of containment and conveyance structures such as slurry walls, cutoff trenches, liners, and caps.
  • • Analyze stormwater and sediment transport related to contaminated runoff and erosion control at cleanup sites.
  • • Analyze and recommend soil, sediment, and sludge treatment or disposal methods, including dewatering and stabilization.
  • • Design treatment trains for contaminated water and vapors, including air strippers, GAC, membranes, UV/oxidation, and biological reactors.
  • • Evaluate operation, maintenance, and optimization of remediation systems to improve performance and reduce costs.
