Description
Perform on-site water damage mitigation and structural drying for homes and businesses, including extraction, cleanup, disinfection, and moisture control. Provide emergency response to leaks, floods, and sewage events; operate restoration equipment, document work, coordinate with clients and insurers, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
- • Respond to water damage emergencies and assess the extent of loss.
- • Work with crews to extract water from structures and contents.
- • Inspect affected areas using moisture meters, thermal imaging, and borescopes.
- • Create moisture maps and drying goals using psychrometric calculations.
- • Set up and monitor air movers, dehumidifiers, and negative air machines.
- • Install containment and vapor barriers to protect unaffected areas.
- • Perform controlled demolition of wet materials (drywall, insulation, flooring).
- • Clean and disinfect structures and contents, including Category 2 and 3 losses.
- • Handle sewage backups with proper PPE and approved disposal practices.
- • Apply antimicrobial and odor control treatments as required.
- • Protect, pack out, and inventory customer contents; determine salvageability.
- • Document readings, equipment logs, photos, and progress in restoration software.
- • Communicate scope, timelines, and daily updates with customers and adjusters.
- • Prepare estimates, work authorizations, and final reports to support claims.
- • Identify and mitigate safety hazards (electrical, structural, microbial).
- • Coordinate with plumbers, electricians, or environmental professionals as needed.
- • Verify drying progress with daily temperature, RH, and material moisture measurements.
- • Maintain and calibrate extraction units, meters, air movers, and dehumidifiers.
- • Follow IICRC standards, OSHA requirements, and local waste disposal regulations.
- • Recommend repairs and preventive measures to reduce future water damage.
- • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours storm or flood response.
