Description
Operate 911 and police communications systems to receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls. Coordinate law enforcement responses, provide caller guidance, and document incidents using CAD and radio systems.
  • • Operate 911 phone, police radio, CAD, and related communications systems.
  • • Answer and triage emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical details.
  • • Dispatch patrol units and specialized teams via radio, paging, or alerting systems.
  • • Relay time-sensitive information between callers, field units, and other agencies.
  • • Initiate call-outs for supervisors, detectives, tow services, animal control, utilities, or mutual aid.
  • • Monitor alarm panels, CCTV, and other feeds; verify and prioritize activations.
  • • Coordinate with fire/EMS, campus or private security, and neighboring jurisdictions as needed.
  • • Track unit status, locations, and responses; update CAD in real time.
  • • Create clear, concise radio broadcasts, BOLOs, and situational updates.
  • • Maintain incident logs, recordings, and teletype messages per policy and retention standards.
  • • Provide appropriate public information and referrals in accordance with policy.
  • • Run database queries on plates, licenses, warrants, and protective orders through state and national systems.
  • • Enter, update, and verify CAD data, unit assignments, and resource availability.
  • • Process teletypes, bulletins, and electronic alerts; distribute to relevant personnel.
  • • Complete shift reports, equipment checks, and notification logs.
  • • Activate emergency tones and alerts; route priority incidents to appropriate responders.
  • • Operate TTY/TDD and language line services to support accessibility.
  • • Provide pre-arrival safety instructions per approved protocols until responders arrive.
  • • Support critical incidents and severe weather operations, including resource tracking and incident command support.
