Description
Wrap, weigh, label, and package meat cuts and value-added products for retail or wholesale distribution. Operate wrapping and labeling equipment, ensure accurate pricing and regulatory labels, and maintain product quality, presentation, and sanitation. Work typically occurs in supermarkets, meat departments, or meat packing and wholesale establishments; may assist with minor trimming and portioning.
  • • Weigh, wrap, and tray-pack meat cuts to specifications.
  • • Print and apply labels with weight, price, dates, and safe-handling information.
  • • Operate and adjust wrapping, sealing, and labeling machines.
  • • Inspect products for quality, temperature, and appearance before packaging.
  • • Portion and package ground meats and sausages as directed.
  • • Maintain cold chain and monitor cooler and display case temperatures.
  • • Rotate stock using FIFO and remove out-of-date or damaged packages.
  • • Replenish and merchandise meat display cases to planograms.
  • • Clean and sanitize work surfaces, scales, knives, and equipment per SOPs.
  • • Record lot codes, production counts, waste, and label verification checks.
  • • Follow HACCP, USDA/FSIS, and company food safety policies; use required PPE.
  • • Coordinate with meat cutters to stage, prioritize, and package items.
  • • Package special orders and respond to basic customer questions.
  • • Maintain inventories of trays, film, labels, and other packaging supplies.
